and why does he get a 1 hour special on ESPN?!?! He hasn't even won any titles. Kobe has 5 and I'm pretty sure he's just chillin in LA laughin at how bad LeBron is about to try to suck up to Cleveland so him leaving won't seem so bad.

he feels like its givin him the best chance to win for many years. He's tryin not to act like he knew the trio of him, Bosh, and Wade wasn't coming at the end of the contracts they all signed in the same year for the same amount of years. HAHAHAHAHA!!!

At my mom's work they had a cardboard cut out of Lebron James. They all took turns shooting sticky darts at his face. At lunch they wrote anything they wanted on it. They took it out of the office, into the parking lot, and lit it on fire.

A few welcoming shots at LeBron James is heating up the usually tame Sunshine State rivalry. Orlando Magic general manager Otis Smith said Friday he was surprised James went to Miami because he thought the two-time MVP was "more of a competitor." He said the "great ones" do it on their own and "usually stay in one location." It was rare public criticism from the usually coy Smith and perhaps a move to motivate his Magic. James had announced a day earlier that he was joining Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami to form an All-Star trio. Asked if James' move to Miami will cause a power shift in the NBA, Smith responded, "Is Kobe retiring?"

haha i heard something similar yesterday, i forgot where... but it was something like: i thought hed pick either cleveland (loyalty), knicks (immortality), bulls (best fit), who would have thought he would have picked the heat (HAAAALLLLLP!!!) also, zack, people with your attitude annoy the fuck out of me. i dont even follow basketball all that much, but i cared for a lot more reasons than just the game. as kmarcare pointed out, clevelands economy has no chance at blossoming anymore, and for every little kid whos idol is/was lebron james, it teaches them poor morals. so, it just makes you sound dumb to not have any opinion on something that has a huge impact in the area that you and your family are from

i dont think you know the ways how it would affect the economy. lebron is a superstar. he draws money to a city by selling tickets. in turn, it brings people to the city, who then spend their money in restaurants and other stores. its not just about the basketball. I honestly still don't think it will have that much of an impact. Sure the city will be losing a celebrity which many companies, sports bars, restuarants, clothing, and other retail stores used him for financial gain but somehow whenever any other city loses someone or something important they get by. You make it sound like it's going to destroy the city entirely. The city will find something else to promote and sell. Cities go through stuff like this constantly.

I agree with both Zak and Rich on this one. Lebron leaving definitely has a negative impact on Cleveland, (Example, local businesses will lose about $20 million annually each season with Lebron gone. Also, Lebron nearly doubled the net worth of the Cavaliers, which WAS about $500 million. I also saw that they estimated the greater Cleveland area will lose out on about $150 million they would have gotten from say, 10 home playoff games.) Countless businesses opened up in Cleveland the last 7 years BECAUSE of Lebron. That is not to say they won't continue to operate in his absence, but will most likely be affected. Zak is right though, Cleveland will not all of the sudden collapse. A city's economy and well-being isn't based solely on one person. The reality is that everyone had such a positive mentality in Cleveland with regard to sports when Lebron was here. And now what. We are back to guessing which Cleveland franchise will MAYBE be good in the next 5 or so years, or longer. Sad. Or the reality is professional sports have become too big for Cleveland. Also sad.

Hell yeah Demas. That's all I've heard on ESPN today is Michael subtlely telling LeBron he will never be a Michael Jordan. Especially after the stunt he just pulled. and yes zack LeBron does effect economies. Earlier in June Sportscenter had the cities up where LeBron would potentially be going and he was worth I think almost 2 billion to New Yorks economy, almost 1 billion in Chicago, and was helping Cleveland by over 500 million. But you see in that, that location also helps define how much the economy will boost.
